Jeannie Polisuk is a Canadian artist with studios in Ottawa, Canada, and Naples, Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Ottawa.

Polisuk's art explores themes of memory, identity, and time. Her mixed-media abstracts are characterized by their large scale, intricate patterns, and bright colours. Polisuk is inspired by the movements, patterns, and textures found in nature and seeks to capture their organic quality in her work.

The artist's creative process focuses more on the act of creation itself rather than the concept behind it. She builds layers of mark-making, including scrawling, scraping, pouring, and dripping, to drive the process forward. Polisuk believes that the history beneath the surface of her paintings is often more intriguing than the surface itself.

Polisuk's aim is for her work to embody notions of fragility, vulnerability, beauty, and imperfection. She distills her work to determine what is essential, letting go of what is not. Her paintings are chaotic, intricate, and unstructured, reflecting the complexity and richness of our experiences. However, they arrive at a completion that is peaceful, soothing, calming, and satisfying.

Polisuk has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions and her paintings are held in numbers private and corporate collections across Canada and the United States. When not in front of her canvas, Polisuk can be found exploring nature and playing her guitar.

The artist draws inspiration from the work of Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Cecily Brown. Her artistic intentions are to create art that resonates with the viewers on a personal level, inviting them into a world of memory and imagination that is both evocative and contemplative.
