Artist Statement
Jeannie Polisuk
is a figurative and abstract artist whose paintings explore the
multiplicity of the human psyche. Her work embodies the dynamics
of human behaviour reflecting upon the social, emotional and intellectual
developmental stages of childhood and adolescence, leading into
adulthood. Her paintings attempt to reveal the many complex
layers and textures of the individual and their surroundings.
“My
paintings begin life before the paint hits the canvas. Much like
a seed, they grow from an idea conceived. On the canvas this new
life is manipulated and nurtured until maturity is reached.
It must then stand on its own."
Jeannie has studied at the Ottawa
School of Art, receiving instruction from renowned portrait artist,
Robert Hyndman. She
is currently in the third year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts program
at the University of Ottawa. Her paintings are displayed in
private homes as well as medical and corporate spaces. Her work
can be viewed at her home studio by appointment.
