These paintings
illustrate a moment captured in the life of a child - defining
moments of "Child's Play" with all its joys, tears,
accomplishments and fears. Captured in metaphor in some of
these paintings is the parent or guardian, absent in the picture
but ever present, observing, responding and guiding the child.
These works,
some of which are completed in a scale that is larger than
life size, explore the many interesting and complex stages
of child development. They attempt to reveal a tender and
vulnerable subject that possesses a strong sense of self and
agency, combined with a dose of defiant independence.
